Class Title Exercising Urban Sustainability: an Interdisciplinary Workshop
Description The regeneration of city districts is part of the continuous urban transformation of the territory and requires the integration of well-rounded strategies that encompass complex environmental, socio-economic and urban governance systems. This workshop provides insight on the integration of the practical and theoretical concepts in the sustainable regeneration of neighborhoods and large urban projects. Working through a collaborative framework with students in the School of Architecture at the Madrid Polytechnic University and a larger network of local partners, workshop students will articulate, evaluate and critique the criteria governing the making of resilient communities. Central to the initiative, workshop participants will work across neighborhood and city scales to document, plan and design sustainable, innovative and feasible proposals in the case study "Paseo de la Dirección, Barrio de Tetuán, in Madrid, Spain."
