Dan McTavish holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of Waterloo and an M.Arch from the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. He is a collaborator and Research Associate at the practice RVTR, founded by Kathy Velikov and Geoffrey Thün.

Dan’s research interests focus on the ways in which space is constructed, socially, politically, and economically, the ways in which the social, political and economic are in turn constructed through space, and how architecture, as both a material and representational practice, can work on spatial/political questions. Through analysis and projective strategies, his work seeks to understand the ways in which space is produced, particularly the homogenization of space in the context dominant global economic systems, and how architecture might reveal the process of homogenization as well as open it up to differentiation.
