Ana Morcillo Pallarés is an architect from Cieza (Murcia), Spain and the Walter B. Sanders Fellow at the University of Michigan, Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning for 2014-15. She studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Valencia - ETSAV, obtaining her professional degree in 2004 and is currently a candidate in the PhD program at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid - ETSAM. Her research explores the evolution and revitalization of public space in New York City through theoretical debate between citizen demands and municipal regulations in understanding the social, economic, architectural and urban conditions of the public space. Ana is co-founder and partner of Morcillo Pallarés + Rule Arquitectos since 2005. Her practice addresses conditions and opportunities in the public dimension of the contemporary city. Morcillo Pallarés + Rule design proposals have been selected in competitions and exhibited in Spain and abroad. The studio’s work ranges from a performing art center in Murcia, a wine museum in Jumilla, a hotel in Cieza, an art installation in Amposta, an archeological museum in Molina to a bicycle loft in Brooklyn, New York.
